Business Basics Grant Program offers $5000 to small businesses

Moreton Bay Region business owners are encouraged to take advantage of the Business Basics Grant Program which opens on May 31, 2021.

What is the Business Basics Grant Program?

The Business Basics grants program provides support to businesses to increase core skills and adopt best practice.

This support includes:

  1. Training and coaching
  2. Website build or upgrades
  3. Professional business advice
  4. Strategic marketing services
  5. Business continuity and succession

The program is administered by the Department of employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT).

What funding is available?

Businesses may be eligible for an upfront fixed grant payment of $5,000, with the grant to be used for funding activities from one of the above priorities.

Activities will NOT be funded:

  • if a total cost is less than $5,000 (ex gst)
  • if payments are made before 17 May 2021

Eligible activities include

Training and coaching

  • Business development, marketing, human resources or business planning topics
  • Training or coaching

Website build or upgrades

  • Website build or upgrade (including website refresh)
  • Adding e-commerce
  • Developing new website content

Professional business advice

  • Business plans

Strategic marketing services

  • Strategic marketing plans including search engine optimisation advice

Business continuity and succession

  • Business continuity or succession plans
  • Cybersafety training and tools

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this grant, your business must:

  • have fewer than 20 employees at the time of applying for the grant
  • have an active Australian Business Number (ABN) and be registered for GST
  • have a Queensland headquarters
  • have a turnover of $300,000 or less for the current financial year
  • not be insolvent or have owners/directors that are an undischarged bankrupt.
